City of St. Helens Holds "Informational Meeting" To discuss a  proposed Conference Center  to be
located in Columbia View Park.
By Bill Eagle

People gathered outside the St. Helens City Hall with signs expressing their view on the use of Columbia View Park for a Conference Center.

A large number turned out to make their concerns known to the City Council.  The Council Chambers was filled to overflowing, and people were forced to stand along the wall, and even outside the building while the "informational meeting was being conducted

City Council President, Ron Youngberg conducted the "Informational meeting."
President Youngberg explained to the group that this was not a formal hearing, but rather an "informational meeting"  to try and determine the best place to build a City Convention/Conference Center.

He explained that the two places of choice were  either Columbia View Park or McCormick Park.    He then had an architect show the group a proposed drawing and aerial view of what a Conference Center in Columbia View park would look like.
