Later that afternoon, we returned home to heartbreak.

Every flower, every bulb, everything she lovingly planted was disturbed. Her plants were not only uprooted, but in some cases reburied, some seemingly replanted upside down. Her work at cosmic balance was destroyed.

Claudia let out a cry of anguish. "What happened? Who did this? Why?"

It was then that we noticed the hole in our fence, and the loving eyes and wagging tails of our next door neighbors' dogs. They had watched Claudia work, and had decided in their doggie minds that she needed help…and help her they did.

I patched the hole. Claudia replanted her plants (as best she could), and then did something very strange. She gave the dogs a treat.

"Why did you do that?" I asked.

"Those dogs didn't mean to wreck my garden," said Claudia. "They saw me digging in the ground and just wanted to help out."

Wow, what a woman. Just like Saint Francis, if we could just document a miracle or two, we would have ourselves a genuine saint.

Do you think I should write a letter to the Pope?
