FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Recently, the St. Helens City Council was in consensus to merge the Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission (BPC) with the Parks Commission (PC). The purpose of the merge was to take a more collaborative approach in addressing the needs of our parks and bicycle/pedestrian paths and trails. In recent years, the BPC has struggled to attain new members. The Council values the contributions that the BPC members provide and wants to continue their participation in making recommendations to the City Council for improvements to paths and trails and, since many of those paths and trails are in parks, they felt that the merge only made sense.
The St. Helens Municipal Code Chapters 2.16 and 2.64 are currently under review. The Council will adopt an ordinance at a future regular session meeting to reflect the changes.
This email is to inform all interested parties that the St. Helens Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission will no longer be meeting.
