Unveiling of Marker by Garden Club.      Wreaths by marker were placed to commemorate those who have fallen, while serving their country.

Senator Betsy Johnson and Rep. Brad Witt both had inspiring words to share.

A Blue Star Mother is the mother who has a child who has or is serving our county in the Military.  A Gold Star Mother is the mother of a child who has fallen in service to our Country.   Trevor Hall (Left), Commander of the St. Helens VFW gave a special acknowledgement of Blue and Gold Star Mothers.  Kevin Whitcomb (right), from the St. Helens Parks Department, accepted the marker on behalf of the City and the Parks Department.

Mayor Peterson, Council chair Jim Huff, and Parks Commission Chair,  Monte Gustafson, were unable to attend this event.   Over 300 people were present, including the St. Helens High School band, and a special Honor Guard from the 741st Corps Support Battalion, Oregon National Guard.

Contributions were made by PGE Employee/Retiree Volunteer Grant Program, VFW. Safeway Bakery, Oregon State Federation of Garden Clubs, Oregon Roadside Council,
St. Helens High School, St. Helens Parks Department and others in the community.
