The Real Wal*Mart

Wal-Mart is one of the wealthiest companies in the world. Have you ever wondered how they got that way?
Lets start with the exploitation of their employees:
Strike one; if you are a single woman and you need to support your kids on Wal-Mart wages.
Strike two; If you need to work full time too bad, you will never get 40 hours a week.
Strike three; Do you need health insurance?  Too bad,  you will never have health insurance.
A woman will seldom be allowed to work her way up in the company to a management position. You can be let go, laid off, down sized, fired, put on temporary leave for ever. Plain and simple, you are a dispensable employee at any given time. Wal-Mart cares absolutely nothing about its employees.
Hopefully when you apply for a job at Wal-Mart you will have no health problems where you require medication because if you do it will disqualify you for employment.  Wal-Mart wants only those workers who will form an allegiance to the corporation, even if it is detrimental to their own best interest or welfare. In other words Wal-Mart is always # 1. no matter what.

I strongly advise that you do not whisper the word
"UNION."   A company like Wal-Mart fears unions and what unions represent.  Wal-Mart is so anti union that they train their associates to rat out other workers who talk about organizing, these people are immediately sent down the road.  The only way to maintain control over the workers is to instill the fear of losing their jobs, what a great American company.

If Wal-Mart went union they would have to pay decent wages, pay over time pay, provide health insurance, retirement, and show good reason to fire you.  Women would have to be treated equally and fairly.  Hard to believe that in the 21st century a company would still get away with treating their employees the way that Wal-Mart treats them.

Wal-mart also exploits you as a tax payer

Did you know that 22% of Wal-Mart employees in the state of Washington, (which number about 16,000), were getting state-funded health care?  The estimates revel that the states taxpayers paid about $9.25 million for Wal-Mart health care subsidies in 2004. The estimate for the years 2005-06 will be approximately $21.7 million.   For each additional store that Wal-Mart opens in Washington State it costs the taxpayer an additional $136,000.00 per year.  If Washington State pays that much I am intrigued to find out how much Oregon State taxpayer's dole out to one of the richest profit making corporations in the world.
