State Senator Betsy Johnson is not alone when receiving out of state contributions, many of her colleagues receive contributions from the same contributors as she does. Some receive contributions from other out of state individuals and or corporations. Some will say that I have purposely named the good senator from District 16 as a personal attack. I assure you that is not the case. I decided to list her out of state contributions because I live in district 16. Any out of state money given to our elected officials troubles me. What troubles me worse, why would a Oregon politician want out of state money? What has an Oregon state senator got to gain by accepting out of state money? How does it benefit the good citizens of Oregon? After all these senators make legislation for our state not a nation.

Have the contributions from the "pharmaceutical' companies helped the people of district 16 or the state as a whole? So far, we do not have health care for all, prescriptions costs have increased dramatically over the last several years, total health care has sky rocketed, and thousands of Oregonians have no health care insurance and the others have lost coverage. I cannot see how these contributions have made a positive difference to the lives of everyday Oregonians.
What does these drug companies have to gain by donating to our state leaders? These questions should be asked and our elected officials should have a reasonable answer.
