In Oregon the tax laws are structured for the corporations, from "carry forwards, to "S" corporations, or Limited liability Corporations, which means that their profits are taxed as personal income.
Corporate tax liability is 6.6% where personal liability is taxed at 9%.

Former AFLCIO president Tim Nesbit has asked that corporations  pay the same tax as their employees, unfortunately Oregon's Legislature has been completely deaf and mute to the suggestion.

Besides the many other tax shelters that the greedy corporations use to beat their obligation of tax revenue to the State of Oregon. Lets not forget the way they threatened communities with the prospect of moving the company over seas, in order to avoid property taxes.

With the shift from the corporations to pay less and less taxes, the difference is made up from Oregon households. The Oregon worker is feeling burdened with the prospect of more and more taxes, and this is rightly so, Because Corporations are paying less and less. In fact they are paying approximately 73% less now than they did in the 1970's

WHAT CAN WE DO?

I believe that it is time that the citizens of Oregon demand from their elected representatives, a bill to reform the tax system of Oregon. Making it fair and equal to all who live, work and do business in this great state.

Oregon must live up to its history, being progressive, making changes for the betterment of its citizens and for the betterment of the state.
