Douglas Mc Carron

Douglas Mc Carron is the General President of the United Brotherhood of the Carpenter's and Joiners Union (UBCJ) other wise known as the dictator who has turned the once strong union brotherhood into a union busting predatory cutthroat anti-union corporate whore who accepted an invitation to speak at President George Bush's anti-labor 2002 Economic Summit. Mc Carron has taken the UBCJ from a strong union to an organization comprised of nothing but UNION RATS! Who have kicked the rank and file members in the face deliberately at every turn.

The Carpenters Union has about 550,000 members and like unions in the early days stood for workers and the union way. Unfortunately these days the UBCJ has taken on a totally different role, under the guidance of Douglas Mc Carron. The story begins in New Mexico, on or about April 2009 Local 1319 of the UBCJ located in Albuquerque has been protesting the use of non-union workers by construction contractors. By typical union tactics this would be a regular picket. Under Mc Carron's game plan things are not what they seem and the picket line becomes nothing but a haven for Rat's brought in by none other than the UBCJ Union. Under the guidance of the head rat himself General President Douglas Mc Carron. Mc Carron's plan of establishing a contract with day-labor companies to provide protesters to walk the picket line is a direct attack against all unions across America and Canada.

While the carpenters complain about sub standard wages from employers they themselves pay their hired strikers only $10.00 per hour to protest the nearly $22 per hour wages of non-union workers. One more action that confirms the union RAT mentality of UBCJ is the flyers that were distributed about directing anyone interested in a day labor job to contact the Albuquerque local. A 2004 study found that 86% of day labors in New Mexico were homeless, why would the UBCJ prey on non-union homeless people? Why didn't the UBCJ hire union labors for a few dollars more? If they had they would have supported the labors organizing efforts, and put an end to the rapacious day labor companies and shown solidarity between all labor movements.  These actions are inexcusable and reek of modern day anti- union, union busting tactics of corporate unionism that Mc Carron seems to be an authority on.

Mc Carron has been the number one reason that the UBCJ has turned into a Rat union; he has revamped the union into a complete opposite of the original UBCJ union. The once democratic, anti conservative, anti- corporate union has now become a conservative, anti-democratic, corporate business, which has no loyalty only hatred to the middle class workers that it is suppose to represent. These actions are what the conservative party of America wants, cheap labor and the ability to exploit all workers for corporate profit.

Mc Carron has pitted worker against worker, unions against unions and has replaced the rank and file union men who use to hold elected offices with authoritarian administrative roles, business agents who have never been a carpenter runs the unions. Mc Carron's dictator abilities have been displayed many times as he has gotten rid of anyone who has opposed his decisions, who would not conform and those who might politically oppose him. If a local opposed him he would place the local in trusteeship immediately and under his dictator like guidance.

Mc Carron controls work, controls local decisions, has changed the protocol on local elections making every election regional, even where union members do not get to vote on union contracts. Mc Carron has publicly called carpenter union locals that have spoke out against him and his activities as being Communist.

The UBCJ has become nothing more than a predatory union, a union that cares nothing for the brotherhood of all unions, a union who will try and take all other crafts work and call it their own, a union that demoralizes it members, discriminates, takes advantage of the poor and homeless paying them substandard wages with no benefits.

UBCJ refuses to allow these people to join the carpenters union, but will gladly exploit them at their pleasure. In my opinion not allowing these people to join this charade is a good thing. Who would want to be associated let alone join with the UBCJ. There are plenty of good unions in many fields that want and would welcome new members to their unions. Unions, who allow free elections, put the workers welfare ahead of corporate America and fight to improve working conditions for all workers across America, Canada and countries around the world.

Luigi Antonini ,Harry Van Arsdale, Jr. ,Leon E. Bates ,Cesar Chavez ,Samuel Gompers ,Joe Hill ,Sidney Hillman ,James Hoffa ,Mary Harris "Mother" Jones Norma Rae ,A. Phillip Randolph ,Walter P. Reuther ,R.J. Thomas ,Leonard Woodcock. These individuals were true labor leaders, read their bio's and you will be impressed and educated at their accomplishments to futher unions and workers rights. I seriously doubt if any of these people would consider Douglad Mc Carron a union leader, If they could speak they would call him nothing less than a UNION BUSTING RAT.
