History of a few of the Religious Cults in America

The Oneida Community religion was founded in New York in 1858; the founder of the Oneida Community was John Humphrey Noyes. He was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, in 1811. John Humphrey came from a well established home where his father, also named John, was a congressman and Dartmouth graduate the community stripped away all perfection with in the community, and the group was nothing more than a sex cult. Their complex marriage meant that every man was married to every woman and that everyone could have sex with anybody with in the community. Love, and marriage between two people was discouraged everyone in the community participated in the acts. There was special provisions set for the old men who had the right to have their way with the young girls while the provision allowed the women to take young teenage boys. In 1881 the community abandoned.

Church of Scientology The only religion where a scripture was first published in a science fiction magazine, L Ron Hubbard was the founder of the group and three years after publication of his book Dianetics belief was printed in 1950 he founded the religion around the book.
Church of Latter-day Saints (MORMONS) Polygamy
Founded in New York in 1830, polygamy (plural marriage) was a founding article of faith. Republican candidate for president Mitt Romney's great grandfather had five wives while the founder Joseph Smith had twenty-seven, and Brigham Young had fifty-one. The Mormons allowed men to have as many wives as they wanted while the women could only have the one husband. In 1890 the Mormons gave up polygamy for state hood although those with numerous wives could keep them, polygamy continues today with off shoots of the Mormon religion.
Mormonism inherent racism Until 1978, the church taught that black skin was the Mark of Cain. Blacks were considered cursed by God, they were allowed to join the church but were banned from entering the tabernacle. The Mormons discourage interracial marriages, and that Jesus came to America after the crucifixion and that America is the new Promised Land.
Southern Baptist was formed in 1845 when the Baptist broke apart from the north and divided because the Northern Baptist worked to abolish slavery and the southern Baptist made slavery their religion. The Southern Baptist church became the base for the Ku Klux Klan and has not strayed from their roots in modern times.

Seriously, religion no matter what kind, has been tied to terrible actions all through history and has been the cause of many wars, innocent deaths and a power struggle between royalty vs. royalty vs. powerful religious figures such as cardinals and popes, while the Catholics prey on the poor using religion to suck the last penny away from the poorest of the poor, requiring a tithe, funding the church before food is bought for the table. I have a huge problem with that doctrine of any church. Doctrines that require repentance once a week for any malice that was done during the week and a nice donation to the church, then you are forgiven for a price. Religion has been a division between white, black, red, yellow and olive skinned people, each trying to push their own agenda and beliefs over the other races religion. The pain and suffering that has been done all in the name of religion is a travesty and continues today. There has been no religion that has escaped the moral, corrupt, and holier than thou actions that have been deliberately used to inflict pain or personal ruin or death, on those who have a different belief.

If everyone followed the philosophy of live and let live, and each to their own beliefs, and simply respect the rights of all, the world would not be in the predicament that it is in today.
