Stolen Signs

With the political campaigns in full swing there have been several political forums around the community where the candidates can answer questions from the moderator and also from the audience. In public all the candidates have shown civility and politeness to each other.

Unfortunately that has not transcended outside of these forums. I find it childlike and ignorant that a certain campaign has resorted to pulling up candidate's signs and leaving them where they were erected. Now I believe these same immature people are now pulling up the signs and taking them.

This has happened to the Maygra and Preheim campaign signs in various spots between Goble and Clatskanie. The 4x8 sign that was erected by the Clatskanie River Inn (with permission) has been torn down numerous times and finally that sign has been stolen. Along with several yard signs that were mixed in with other candidates signs along the roadway. The signs that were placed along the road a little further down the highway next to other candidate's signs were pulled and thrown in the tall grass.
The signs in Clatskanie will not be replaced. Our campaign is on a limited budget unlike other campaigns who have unlimited resources.

I can understand people arguing and having differences of opinions, that happens in a democracy.   In the commissioners race actions by a certain campaign has made it personal for some unknown reason and not a race for commissioner. To resort to childish pranks only proves that these people are simply afraid of Maygra and Preheim winning the commissioners race.  Brady and I would gladly debate these people on any and all issues of the county. But to vandalize our signs shows a lack of respect for the office of which you seek.

I had more respect for the individual whose campaign has resorted to this type of campaigning. All I can say is that I feel sorry for you that your actions are those of desperate individuals.

Because of the continued vandalism and theft; the Maygra and Preheim campaign have filed two police reports one in the City of Clatskanie and the other with the Sheriff's department. Maygra and Preheim have placed a newspaper ad in the Clatskanie Chief offering a $500.00 REWARD for the arrest and conviction of the people who have perpetrated the vandalism and theft of their campaign signs.
