Freedom of the press?
Not under the Bush administration.
Were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. -Thomas Jefferson, 1787.

Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech or of the press... -Article One, Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution, 1789.

Once again America is under attack from a terrorist. The terrorist is none other than George W. Bush, Supreme Leader of the most powerful nation in the free? World.
Bush has again showed his contempt for the press. Bushes attack on the press this week for reporting the secret buying of your bank records. Bush's actions are not surprising. Bush has openly tried to silence the press on many occasions. This administration believes that any and all business conducted should be done so in complete secrecy.
Bush has already challenged many existing laws on the books in order to proceed with tapping your phones, e-mail, bank accounts, library cards, and any thing else that he decides to include all in the name of "Homeland Security." Right now there is discussion and action that he is infringing on your Civil Liberties.
In my opinion the "other" terrorists have already won the battle against us, and the American people have let it happen. When one single solitary freedom of one single American is compromised than the terrorists have attained their goal. Freedom is the right to come and go as you please, talk to who you want, read what ever book you want, etc with out the fear of the government hauling you away to one of their special prisons for terrorists. You know, the ones that do not allow you to have a lawyer, or make a phone call, or best of all, the one where you are held for years with out ever being charged with a crime. Before Bush was appointed by the highest but not the smartest or fairest court in the land, and awarded a falsified election, a person was considered innocent until proven guilty but under Bush you are guilty until you are found guilty no matter how long it takes. These are the so-called Homeland Security precautions that the Supreme Leader and his cronies support and carry out.
Bush administration to seek criminal charges against NY Times's reporters, publisher and editors for treasonous act of disclosing to American people Bush's secret surveillance of bank records.
Freedom of the press has always been an American icon and given right of the American people, with out the freedom of the press, the America we once knew would not of been able to grow and thrive as it has for 200 years. With this continuing assault on the press, is this the beginning of the end of the check and balances for the public, to keep tabs on the government, and its activities? Bush has spoken harshly in the past about the press and to news reporters, stating that your time is gone and that the press has little power anymore. I am the president, I am the decider, I make the rules that's what a president does. It is evident that Bush is succeeding in his attempt to destroy /hinder the press's ability to openly report on his activities,
to his boss, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!
Once again the American people are sitting back and allowing this Nazi to corrode American freedoms. Many American people are passive with the actions of the Supreme leader Bush, just like the German people were under the rule of another Supreme Leader, and mentor of George W. Bush and that man was Adolph Hitler. The American people are a people that are slow to get riled up, but I believe that a good majority of Americans are pretty much fed up with Bush/Chaney. I hope that they voice their outcry publicly, writing to their elected officials, writing to editors of papers, calling in on talk shows, locally and nationally.
The American people must stand up and reclaim their freedoms that are being taken away, one right at a time.

Our homeland is under siege from with in.

To reclaim our freedoms, our civil rights, from George Bush, is HOMELAND SECURITY!
