House Speaker Boehner's reaction to Mitt Romney's speech at the RNC

Was less than enthusiastic.

As I sat and watched the republican convention I nearly fell asleep. When the TV cameras panned the less than enthusiastic crowd I was amazed, the people at the convention were having the same problem that I was having. Boredom seemed to be the main agenda of the 2012 republican convention that is until Dirty Harry came on stage and decided to talk to an empty chair. His standup comedy act, if that is what you wanted to call it. In my opinion that would be a kind remark. The tasteless act echoed the entire republican convention. His remarks were offensive, less than truthful and were certainly junior high mentality.

If you watched the republican convention you can clearly see the difference between the republicans and the democrats while the republicans want to ignore global warming, tax the poor and the middleclass while giving more tax breaks to the top 1%. Take away a woman's choice, and become the people who decide if a woman can have birth control or have any choice in healthcare period. The republicans want to continue to decrease the middleclass while increasing the wealth of the already rich. They support off shore tax free bank accounts, support companies who move over seas and take American jobs with them while taxing the working people of America to help pay for the company to move outside of America. These are not American values these are the values of greedy and self-righteous individuals.

Not all republicans believe that women should not be offered birth control, or have the right to choose. Some do not believe that women should be paid less than a man for doing the same work. And some do believe in global warming and are upset about off shore bank accounts.

While there are many extremists on both sides I believe that most people are in the middle and can work together for a satisfactory outcome on some issues that face us today. While each of us wants to win an issue completely sometimes all you can get is part of what you want and hope that next time you win more.

I have to say that there are a few issues that cannot be negotiated. Women's healthcare, equal pay, global warming, discrimination of any kind, the right to choose, and same sex marriages. There should be no allowance for hidden bank accounts, and no tax breaks for companies that move out of the US to name a few.

We need to put aside political differences and work toward an outcome that helps people and not corporations.
