THE DREADED FISCAL CLIFF

The dreaded fiscal cliff is still looming over the heads of the American taxpayers. While congress and the president takes a Christmas break the problem is still on the minds of many Americans. While many of the elected "tea party" people want to stop government spending through reducing social services for the middle class of our country and the poor, they want to reduce taxes as well. They cannot seem to see the difference between the millionaires and billionaires who pay little taxes and most often less tax than their own employees or the other millions of middleclass and low income wage earners.

The Republican's want to drive us over the edge of the fiscal cliff and do not want to compromise. The democrats have offered compromise on many of the issues regarding the fiscal cliff. With many polls taken the majority of republicans, democrats and independents want the two parties to compromise and stop the non-functioning agenda that has been the scheme of the Republican Party. The republicans will stop at nothing to try and punish the American people for re-electing president Obama and make his presidency a notable failure. And if that means taking the country over the fiscal cliff than that is what they will try to do.

The Republican's want to reduce spending on Medicare and Medicaid they have no compassion for those in need or the elderly who depend on these services. The democrat want to increase the taxes on those who make over $250,000.00 and the republicans want to have the bracket increased. The democrat agreed to do $350 billion in Medicare costs the republicans want to increase those to over $600 billion and also increase the age to 67 before a person could receive the benefits.

We would not have these problems at all if the country was working; the Republicans have supported the outsourcing of our jobs in order for the corporations to make more profits pay fewer taxes at the cost of the financial health of America and its people. The Republicans are to blame for the decades of ill management of our country. Unfortunately it will take many years for America to get out of this terrible that we are in.

We need to re- do the tax code for the rich, and for corporations, close up the loop holes. We need to bring jobs back to America and with jobs here people working our economy will be strong and our coffers full. The problem is not hard to solve and to fix. The hard part is to get the Republicans to think of the American people and the country first and before their rich friends and their corporate backers.
