So wrong to be dependent on China, look where it

has gotten the USA. Shameful

Bring US manufacturing back to America!

America Is Too Dependent

The COVID virus has caused destruction as soon as it infected the very first person. As far as we know, the USA has had over 67,913 deaths, worldwide in 177 countries. The death toll is 247,567. But these numbers are most likely low as the virus was around longer than first thought. The number of people sickened is about 3,497,300 again low because many people that were sick did not get medical treatment in many countries. And testing is inadequate.

The shelter in place order has proven to help slow the spread of the virus resulting in fewer deaths. And countries that did not put this kind of order in place are experiencing a high volume of sickness and deaths.

                                                     Being Too Dependent on China,

The other thing that is happening in the USA as you know well is the lack of PPE’s and the lack of medicines and medical equipment, because of our dependency on China for most products or partial components that we need.

This brings to the discussion of why we have allowed ourselves to be so dependent on products and materials from China. Why can’t America make these products. Maybe after the pandemic this will change, maybe we have learned our lesson the hard way.

Take pharmaceuticals for example. Over 70% of active pharmaceutical ingredients used in the U.S. market are produced overseas. Almost all of the ibuprofen sold here comes from China.

Major industries like telecom equipment that is made in China. They’ve become the biggest players. The leading supplier of 5G equipment — and largest owner of patents — is Huawei, not Cisco Systems CSC . Huawei is the poster child of a China that has graduated from Happy Meal toy makers to Polo stitch-and-sew factory worker to the guys who created the TikTok app.

How long before BaiduBIDU buys Google? Or Tencent takes a 20% stake in Twitter? Just a hunch: unless banned by Washington, it’s just a question of time. China is taking over USA not by force but by shear business deals and USA greed and stupidity. We had better put a stop to this before it is too late.

China was being groomed to become a low cost producer for U.S. multinationals since the time of Republican President Richard Nixon. That got the ball rolling. The idea was not to turn it into a manufacturing hub at the expense of the U.S., but an open China would become a more middle class China and a middle class China would overthrow the Communist Party elite. This absolutely backfired and why would China want to be a free country.

This happened during the Cold War. U.S. business owners had to pacify labor because labor had an alternative model — Soviet communism. If business owners didn’t work with labor, it added credibility to the Soviet model, and that put businesses at risk of labor disputes and potentially even revolts. But then the Cold War ended, and labor was kicked to the curb. It all went abroad in the late 1980s and 1990s, peaking into a mass exit once China joined the World Trade Organization under Democratic President Bill Clinton.

But to fair, both parties were pro -China because the business industry constituents wanted more certainty regarding U.S. China trade relations. Prior to joining the WTO, China’s favored nation trading status was up to the political whims of the American Congress. And cheap labor was a positive for the GOP and big business. They could cut labor costs, break unions destroy American jobs on behalf of shareholders, and corporate greed. It started with the clothing industry then electronics, then it just snowballed into everything else.

An interesting fact which few people know. Brazil had a free trade zone in Manuas, a city in the Amazon, designed to do this kind of work. But China was much cheaper, labor laws were much weaker. Brazil lost out.

This is what we have done to ourselves and China has capitalized on our stupidity. Outsourcing production over multiple decades has left our country without the means or ability to innovate, let alone produce, the next generation of high-technology products. The country has lost suppliers, skilled trades, and the product and process design and engineering knowledge that can only be built and renewed through hands-on production. Our generations of skilled workers have retired and the new generations of American workers have no idea what a skill is because they now work at low paid unskilled job’s depending on fast food chains for their lively hood instead of American manufacturing jobs. Thanks too Corporate greed.

The United States is now dependent on foreign suppliers and producers for not only cheap components and consumer goods like sneakers and plug-in headphones, but also high-end electronics, major pharmaceutical inputs and medical equipment, and also defense supplies and technology. What the hell is wrong with our country depending on China a communist country for our needs.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

The USA cant even make C 100’s. we have plane parts made all over the damn world. And those plants are closed. If we needed planes we would be in deep poop.

We need to put the blame on every board and CEO of big pharma and big industry. They were told ‘come to China and we will give you a 50% devaluation of the currency, plus cheap labor, plus free land, plus no interest rate loans, no safety or environmental regulations that are going to drive up your costs 30%.’no labor union either. Greed does many things it blinds people to reality. Corporate America is killing themselves and don’t see it.

Maybe the Covid virus has brought us back to our senses. I sure hope so.

China’s Made in China 2025 plan, which includes plans to expand in areas such as blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductor and chip making technology, along with biotech, should have the same effect on the U.S. government as Russia sending a man into space. In the Cold War heyday, the Sputnik program forced Washington to rev up investments in order to win the space race, ultimately getting John F. Kennedy to focus a nation on landing a man on the moon. Wake up America wake up!

The America worker is the hardest worker in the world. Our ingenuity is renown; American workers want to work -with 30 million American workers out of work and dependent on a government check. We can build our factories back, hire Americans, pay a fair and decent wage and make products here again, stop being dependent on crucial products. The US needs to stop being dependent on other countries for our military items, stop being dependent on anyone for anything. We can have a prosperous country and again be the leader of all things in the world.

We must do this for the preservation of our country, democracy and for the rest of the free world. The greed of our corporations has put our very country at risk. I hope they got  a wakeup call from this pandemic. Their corporate existence relies on their ability to put country, and profits in the right order because China will take them over in a heartbeat and not think twice.

Its not too late to act.
