A New Hope?

The times are a changen, 4 out of 10 people now believe that Trump was directly responsible for the Capitol attack on Jan. 6, 2021. But still there is a untiring and polarized division across the country in reaction to the attack and the House investigation into its causes and results. Approximately half the country wants the Jan. 6th hearings to continue. The hearings were set for Wed. sept. 28th but was canceled because of hurricane Ian and a new date has not been set at the time of this writing.

Belief in what Democrats call "the big lie" that Biden stole the election from Trump have remained steady for months. Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the election was fair, but a persistent minority 29% believe Biden won as a result of voter fraud. Numerous public officials at federal and state levels investigated election results and found no widespread fraud, including Trump aides such as former Attorney General Bill Barr. In fact, one Republican, who was hollering that there was voter fraud was caught voting for his wife who was dead!

Opinions remains divided over Trump's responsibility for the riot. More than half of Americans say Trump was either "directly responsible" or "encouraged those involved. But one third say Trump did nothing wrong. The portion finding him "directly responsible" declined from 42% amid the hearings in June. It seems patience for the House investigation is dwindling and is the same among the party lines.

A majority of Americans about 58% think the committee should resume hearings, but half 51% also say the inquiry should wrap up "as soon as possible. Democrats were most in favor of continuing hearings (83%), and 62% say it should take as long as needed, according to the poll. But nearly two thirds of Republicans 65% opposed resuming hearings, and three quarters 75% wanted the investigation finished as soon as possible. Among independents, 60% wanted more hearings, but half 53% wanted to conclude the inquiry soon. Independents say they want to see more from the committee, but also wrap this up soon.

Of course the republicans want the hearings to end because the hearings prove that many Republican House and Senate members were in support, or somehow involved in the coup. Their support of trump is a spineless attempt to hold on to their seats in red states. They are afraid of MAGA’s and afraid of the power trump holds over the insane Americans who still support the fascist. I have asked many trumpsters this simple question, just what would trump have to do to get you to stop supporting him? They never answer, they go on a stupid tyrant about how Biden stole the election from his basement! Good God, what the hell is wrong with these people.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Tuesday endorsed a bill introduced by several Democrats and a few Republicans to remove the vagueness that helped lead to the Jan. 6, 2021 assault on the Capitol by a mob loyal to Donald Trump seeking to halt certification of Joe Biden's presidential victory. The Kentucky Republican's support all but ensures passage of the bi-partisan Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act which could be approved in the coming weeks. The measure would make clear that the vice president's role during the tally of Electoral votes is purely ceremonial, and it would make it more difficult for lawmakers to challenge and delay the count of a particular state's results. Well, well, well finally a little spine is showing.

It also bars legislatures from appointing their own electors that would go against how their state voted.

"Clearly when a 150-year-old law has successfully brought us certainty, finality and one orderly presidential inauguration after another, we need to be delicate and careful with any changes," McConnell said during a Rules and Administration Committee meeting Tuesday to move the bill forward. "But the chaos that came to a head on January 6 of last year strongly suggests that we find careful ways to clarify and streamline the process. But then we have never had a fascist, Nazi, self-appointed  want to be king and second to no one but god, in fact sent to earth by God, an individual to try and remain in office after he was legally beat in the election. And when not getting his way, attempted to pull off a coup.

Rules Committee Chairwoman Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said the Electoral Count Act was largely overlooked for more than a century because the power had transitioned peacefully from Republican to Democrat and back again. Rules Committee Chairwoman Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., said the Electoral Count Act was largely overlooked for more than a century because the power had transitioned peacefully from Republican to Democrat and back again.

The republic is still divided and political differences are still volatile. Hopefully after the hearings are finished on his attempted coup, and trump goes to jail for the coup and  for stealing top secret documents the trumpsters will finally go away quietly. But I doubt it, they will never ever believe that he did any of the things he has been charged with, or the things he will be charged with. The mentally of these folks is way below normal guidelines.
