This is a Good Thing That Our County Has Done
County Launches A New Service
The Columbia County Clerk’s Office has launched a new service which is free, it alerts property owners to alterations to their property records. The Clerks office say the Property Recording Alert System (PRAS) alerts “subscribers by email whenever a document is recorded and indexed under a monitored name. Maintaining correct and transparent property records is a fundamental responsibility of the Clerk’s Office. This free alert service adds an extra layer of attentiveness for property owners by alerting them when new documents are recorded. Officials say that property fraud is uncommon but can become expensive to fix. The system serves as a quick warning tool. Property owners in Columbia County can sign up for the service on the county’s website or by calling 503-397-3796.
